OpenAdaptxt: an open source enabling technology for high quality text entry

    Get PDF
Modern text entry systems, especially for touch screen phones and novel devices, rely on complex underlying technologies such as error correction and word suggestion. Furthermore, for global deployment a vast number of languages have to be supported. Together this has raised the entry bar for new text entry techniques, which makes developing and testing a longer process thus stifling innovation. For example, testing a new feedback mechanism in comparison to a stock keyboard now requires the researchers to support at least slip correction and probably word suggestion. This paper introduces OpenAdaptxt: an open source community driven text input platform to enable development of higher quality text input solutions. It is the first commercial-grade open source enabling technology for modern text entry that supports both multiple platforms and dictionary support for over 50 spoken languages

Enhancement of antifungal activity and transdermal delivery of 5-flucytosine via tailored spanlastic nanovesicles: statistical optimization, in-vitro characterization, and in-vivo biodistribution study

Aim and background: This current study aimed to load 5-flucytosine (5-FCY) into spanlastic nanovesicles (SPLNs) to make the drug more efficient as an antifungal and also to load the 5-FCY into a hydrogel that would allow for enhanced transdermal permeation and improved patient compliance. Methods: The preparation of 5-FCY-SPLNs was optimized by using a central composite design that considered Span 60 (X1) and the edge activator Tween 80 (X2) as process variables in achieving the desired particle size and entrapment efficiency. A formulation containing 295.79 mg of Span 60 and 120.00 mg of Tween 80 was found to meet the prerequisites of the desirability method. The optimized 5-FCY-SPLN formulation was further formulated into a spanlastics gel (SPG) so that the 5-FCY-SPLNs could be delivered topically and characterized in terms of various parameters. Results: As required, the SPG had the desired elasticity, which can be credited to the physical characteristics of SPLNs. An ex-vivo permeation study showed that the greatest amount of 5-FCY penetrated per unit area (Q) (mg/cm2) over time and the average flux (J) (mg/cm2/h) was at the end of 24 h. Drug release studies showed that the drug continued to be released until the end of 24 h and that the pattern was correlated with an ex-vivo permeation and distribution study. The biodistribution study showed that the 99mTc-labeled SFG that permeated the skin had a steadier release pattern, a longer duration of circulation with pulsatile behavior in the blood, and higher levels in the bloodstream than the oral 99mTc-SPNLs. Therefore, a 5-FCY transdermal hydrogel could possibly be a long-acting formula for maintenance treatment that could be given in smaller doses and less often than the oral formula

Situation Awareness in Multiple UAV Control

The purpose of this study was to investigate operator\u27s situation awareness while controlling multiple unmanned aerial vehicles. A human operator may have to control more than one vehicle at a time because of an increase in demand of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the civilian airspace. Although this might seem plausible, human operators tasked with operating more than one UAV face cognitive overloads resulting in failure to sustain the demanding situation awareness standards of the Federal Aviation Authority. In this study, participants were tasked with monitoring both one and two UAVs by one of three management styles representing three levels of automation. Results indicate that performance (as measured by number of errors committed by the participant) deteriorated while monitoring two UAVs. Four performance and preference ratings were analyzed from post-run and post-simulation questionnaires. The single UAV condition was significantly more efficient by workload and performance measures and led to higher situation awareness than the condition with two UAVs. There was no significant difference between the management styles used to monitor the UAVs

An Efficient TCM Supervised Learning Approach With Naïve Bayesian Classifier

Abstract:- In this paper we proposed an efficient trust computation method for identifying and allowing the nodes based on trust measures. Most of our approaches works on statistical measures like trust computations (i.e. Direct and indirect trust computations) these approaches are not optimal, because anonymous user may not have(or use) same set of characteristics as previous connection. In this paper we are proposing an efficient trust computation method apart from the traditional trust computation method, this approach based on classification for analyzing the nodes or user when connects to the network. Pumice stone supported titanum dioxide for removal of pathogen in drinking water and recalcitrant in wastewater

International audienceBactericidal and organic degradation effects of TiO2 on pumice stone are described in this paper. Immobilization of TiO2 on pumice stone is easy and efficient method to obtain photocatalytic reactions without the problem of filtration. Pumice stone is soft and available as pellets that can be used in pellets fixed (with cement or poly carbonate) on a slanting plank/glass by coating the preformed TiO2 over the pellets using simple paint brush for applying the photo catalyst. The treatment of inactivation of bacteria especially E. coli existing in real river waters and also different model organic substrate degradations like acid orange-7, resorcinol, 4, 6-dinitro-o-cresol, 4-nitrotoluene-2-sulfonicacid, isoproturan are studied. Furthermore, TiO2 over pumice stone loaded in a multi tube reactor gave similar results for the disinfection and detoxification studie
